How long will I be numb?
If anesthetic was used, it can take anywhere from 1-4 hours to start to feel back to normal. Be careful not to bite your lips or cheeks during this time.
When you leave our office, the filling will be completely hardened and very strong, so it is fine to eat and chew on it right away. However, if you are numb, it may be best to wait until the numbness is gone to avoid biting your lips, cheek, tongue, etc.
Sometimes, the filling feels ‘high’ or the bite feels slightly off. If this occurs, please call us. Adjusting the bite is very simple, and you can damage the tooth if the filling is left ‘high’.
Occasionally, you may experience a slight, short-lasting sensitivity to cold things. If this occurs, it will almost always go away quickly. If it is very uncomfortable or doesn’t go away, please call us!
